The team of award-winning designers share their top tips on the picture-perfect Christmas décor ideas for your home this year.
Inspired by the seasonal decorations seen when shopping in Canary Wharf earlier this month, the team couldn’t wait to head over to 8 Water Street and decorate the Christmas tree whilst styling the apartment.
The team of award-winning designers share their top tips on the picture-perfect Christmas décor ideas for your home this year.
Choosing the colour scheme
Notoriously the most challenging place to start, the designers always recommend selecting a colour scheme which complements your existing décor. A combination of harmonising colours allows a space to seamlessly come together as one, without the Christmas decorations becoming too overpowering. If in doubt, a timeless choice is to opt for classic white, paired with warm lighting. Missing some colour? Try adding pops of colour with your accessories, such as candles or Christmas crackers.
Decorating the tree
Whether you prefer a minimalist Christmas tree, or you like to go all out with baubles and lights, decorating the tree is the perfect way to get into the cheerful spirit. Support your local businesses this Christmas by exploring nearby stores, cafés, and restaurants for a wholesome twist on your decorations.
Creating a warm atmosphere
Re-create a warming fireplace glow in your home for the ultimate festive feel. You can achieve this by adding low lighting with the use of lamps and candles. In addition, your Christmas tree lights will create a cosy cabin feel in any modern space. To enhance this further, the designers suggest selecting winter candle scents or diffusers, much like the winter selection available at The White Company to complete your room.
Setting a table
Looking for inspiration on how to decorate a table for Christmas?
At Christmas, the dining table décor should be as memorable as the menu. Whilst complementing your selected colour scheme, Christmas table dressing can be done in an array of festive shades. For the 8 Water Street apartment, the designers opted to match the Christmas tree baubles with a selection of white and silver table placings.
For a touch of colour, green and red candles were added for a more traditional spin along with traditional Christmas crackers. All the items used by the team were purchased in Canary Wharf, meaning recreating the look couldn’t be easier! Head over to Vertus’ Instagram and watch the full styling reel for further inspiration.
